Saying we should all go back to physical media I think misses the point. I actually *like* buying games and movies digitally for a bunch of reasons. What we need is better consumer protections so the things we do buy digitally are actually owned and companies cant delete/revoke access!

Anyway, the larger conversation to be had here is around digital rights and what a license should enable. This needs to be a larger consumer rights issue going forward to push for new rules that allow for clear rules around refunds and end of life access etc.

I simultaneously expected and didn't expect to see this announcement. Really sucks for collectors and preservationists. Now is time to seriously start talking about ways to make digital purchases better, because it's clear that physical games are likely done. blog.playstation.com/2026/07/01/p...

I think it's cool and objectively important that Switch 2 is getting SO DAMN MUCH 3rd party support. That dominated the Direct, period. The majority of the showcase didn't exactly appeal to me, but I'm also not mad. I got Star Fox around the corner, and OOT Remake likely in December. I'm all good.

Perhaps a year ago this would have been a $450 GPU, and it would have had more of a reason to exist. This market is so jacked up that they felt like it was valid to give this the same MSRP that the 9070 non-XT had at launch, though. So now we have a GPU which is considered DOA by many.

This will be the true test of Champions' longevity. While activity is high, each competition is seeing less and less people Mobile will be the true test as most mobile players will likely have little backlog of Pokémon, so we'll be seeing how new players can truly compete.

I wonder if 10 years from now, when the next Mario Kart game comes out, Mario Kart World will become a more nichely appreciated title in the series much like how Double Dash is seen?
