This article took 8 years to write & revise, but it's out now in _American Art_. In many ways, it encapsulates my thoughts on Scott Burton's work of the 80s, and it's 2nd of 3 essays on the decade (final out in a journal next year) that could have been a vol.2 to my book. doi.org/10.1086/738511

An old favourite for the last #TombTuesday of 2025, this is the Dolmen des Follets, a neolithic tomb in St Gravé, Brittany. It is said to be inhabited by a band of ferocious goblins (the 'follets') who fiercely guard a treasure buried beneath.

This funerary wreath is made of everlasting flowers (Helichrysum stoechas) and is more than 1,700 years old! It was found in a tomb of the #Roman period in Hawara/#Egypt and has survived due to Egypt's dry climate. Dating 2nd/3rd c. AD. On display at British Museum 📷 me
