Thinking about the Politico group txt exposé, how (rightfully) angry many are about it now, & also how dismissive towards first-hand experiences of racism, sexism, xenophobia, antisemitism. She was a veteran of the Stonewall rebellion and a lifelong organizer for the safety and dignity of trans people, sex workers, and the incarcerated. She came from the same generation and milieu as Marsha and Sylvia. She was 78.

Final point: I understand why ppl want to shout things like “do your job” as they demand various policing forces arrest each other. But by protecting the state & property, & repressing dissent, they are in fact doing their only job, which is to make way for racialized capitalism & authoritarianism.

I do hope one eventual outcome of this current community resistance to state violence is sustained support to decrease the power & budget of CPD, which has long been using many of the harassment & abduction tactics ICE employs against Black Chicagoans, but with less public outcry & attention.
