I wrote this piece because a lot of people who work on building decarb think that we'll be able to rapidly transition without confronting housing speculation and profit-driven landlords. There is no just transition without building tenant power.

But as US hemorrhages affordable homes, rent regs are actually a path to *preserve* affordable supply
