The video game industry decided to discontinue their product, the video game, in exchange for trying to make Fortnites. They have in recent years found out this doesn't work, so they have pivoted from making Fortnites to making ????????????????? nothing I guess

They did an amazing job with the character art too (building off of
@christapaolucci.com
's early work!) But I really appreciate them as someone who I'm able to bounce ideas/designs/techniques off of and who is really smart and thoughtful about the work they do. Thats all, Naud is the best lol.

High refresh rates are a scourge. You're at 60fps, having a great time. You see a 120hz screen, now you're ruined on 60. You glimpse 165, now 120 is trash. Some guy tries to show you 240, you shut your eyes, you don't open them til he's dead. You've killed a man now and for what

I may delete this because itโs a bit spicy but it shouldnโt be lost on us that games being turned into TV is essentially harvesting the stories written by those who donโt have union representation or healthcare with WGA by those that do. Our stories are good enough for TV but the writers arenโt?

I've overhauled my puzzle level generation so a level is now "grown" like cell tissue in a triangle tessellation. New elements can be inserted anywhere, and the whole level deforms to make room. This makes it easier to control topology and create paths that loops around areas.

The new preface to this great and depressing scholarly book gets into the explosion of sports betting and โprediction marketsโ since 2012โs 1st edition, plus well-meaning games-for-change types trying to harness dark patterns for good. Everyone within 30 feet of gamedev should read it.

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.

There's a terrifying amount of people at the highest levels in this industry, who legit just don't like art. They like prestige. They like fame. They like press. They like money. We ain't in this for them.
