I read all of Iron Widow in basically 1 day. It's a very fun read though it occasionally slaps you in the face with the fact that it is a YA book and it is getting silly with it.

dumb d20 fantasy game homebrew rule idea. When an incoming attack roll is the same number as your armor score you parry the blow doing damage equal to your level or something.

The #ttrpg that's been at the top of my wish list for years is about to finally release, so I wanted to give a brief plug for "Stonetop" so other people who find it as exciting as I do can get in on what might be a limited print run. 1/

Finished Noor yesterday, its a great scifi story and a commentary on capitalism's exploitation of Africa. Theres a good exploration of staying yourself and keeping your culture when you are inconvenient to the profit machine. The tension builds so high all the way to the end its pretty awesome.

One thing I am happy about is that I've started reading again. I think I read like 15 or so books last year and its been delightful to know I still read as fast as I did in highschool. It helps keep me off my phone at work and I've been reading at home here and there too

I think the importance of whipping out a gun in the middle of a wizard fight is that it needs to be unexpected by the audience and the opponent and it also needs to conclusively end the fight very quickly.

I'm not sure if I like the Gachiakuta anime and I'm not sure if its the dub or if I need to try the manga or if it's just too battle shonen for me.

Finished There Is No Antimemetics Division. There are very few scifi books like it and its such a treat. Go read it if you get the chance. I actually read this on my own time at home which is the biggest compliment I can give a book.

I finished Among the Burning Flowers, it is good but doesn't super stand on its own, its very much a little jaunt into an interesting pocket of world building, but I think if you read the Roots of Chaos books in timeline order its a great lead in to Priory.
