Mrs H inherited two rhubarb plants at her allotment and the first crop was... woody. I ate it but it took about an hour to cook down. That plant has now gone dormant and other has suddenly started growing like there's no tomorrow!

Doing a #StarTrek movie rewatch once again, starting from the start. Haven't decided if I'm going to include V or not yet. As always I think The Motion Picture contains the bones of a really good movie but it just gets buried under the lengthy fx sequences and nonsensical plot.

I just finished re-reading Escape and I highly recommend it. The detail of my experiences online are completely different from Marie's but that sense of the internet changing, not for the better, is a very familiar feeling.

Just been in a pub in a heavily Reform area and heard the older group at the next table talking about the march in London. One described he'd seen on Facebook which was clearly AI-generated. "It's not racist, there were Blacks, Sikhs, all sorts in the crowd." It's just all so depressing.

It's a shame. I think he could have made a good PM. I like Rayner a lot but HMRC investigation and suspicion of her in swathes of England make it dangerous. I like Miliband a lot too but he wasn't great as leader before and was rejected by the country in a general election.

This response is understandable, and feels compassionate. I said very similar things about the area that I grew up, which voted heavily for Brexit. But the thing is: these people have been indulged in their ideas — which are racist, and also simply incoherent — for over a decade.
