I have to say I'm a bit angry with the blithe way that many advised others it was OK to just stop paying attention to the news. Over a few generations people noped out of news but leapt into something that filled the space when it arrived: social media.

A few people I’ve spoken to (in real life, can you even?!) have said, understandably, that they “can’t wait for things to eventually just get back to normal”. The problem is…Britain currently has the “normal”they’re talking about. The US got “back to normal” in November 2020.
