The local C&R team in Roskill have blocked the council funded Xmas event from having Santa because it will "disrupt Carol" (sic). Bit grinchy if you ask me; lots of folks in our community can't afford the fancy mall Santa pics and this was a free chance for their kids. Sad.

Last local govt elections the 6th seat on the Puketāpapa local board was almost a 3 way tie. In the end there were 8 votes in it iirc. In 2024 Auckland Council voted 11 to 10 NOT to have booth voting this time (which increases turnout). Cr Fletcher’s vote was the difference. Every vote counts.

It was fantastic to attend the Ngāti Whātua commemoration of the 185th anniversary of the founding of Auckland/Tāmaki. 18th September 1840 Apahai te Kawai gifted 3000 acres of what is now downtown Auckland to Governor Hobson. Can you imagine a better city foundation than a gift between cultures?

Dishonest exaggeration by veteran councillors Lee & Fletcher on planning issues is so transparent - A shameful attempt to frighten people into voting for these low effort councillors at the cost of a better, more prosperous, + vibrant future for the city. One with homes & jobs for all generations.

Food for thought: be very skeptical of incumbent councillors who have been around forever talking about how broken things are. Looking at you Christine Fletcher, Mike Lee.

“My core frustration with veteran incumbents like Lee and Fletcher is they have been at the absolute centre for Auckland for 30 years. Every election they pop out to say it’s broken ... if it is, they’re the ones who have done it.” Or at least have proven themselves to be unable fix it.
