It’s doesn’t need to be permanent, just give people a taste of public transit & relief from fuel prices. Yes at the moment our supply is ok, but we need to wind back our fuel use NOW so we maintain reserves for when/if supply isn’t ok. Instead here in Auckland we’re shutting it all down for Easter.

I’d love to see the protected bike/walk lane that runs from Oteha Valley Road alongside the Northern Busway to Constellation Station extended all the way down to Akoranga Station (and over the bridge). The painted cycle lane on Taharoto Road is a death trap…half a metre wide at best.

Protected cycle lanes on the GSR in Penrose and south. Unsexy, abandoned by planners and difficult but would be a real help to both bike commuters and recreational cyclists. We all like those sweepy off road cycleways but we also need direct routes for cyclists to get around.

The answer is clear

Tuesday was our busiest day on public transport since 2019 (pre covid), 7000 trips higher than the previous busiest day which was two weeks ago. This Tuesday (18 March) patronage was 7% higher than it was last Tuesday. It’s great to see more people choosing public transport and trying it out.
