Meet Angine de Poitrine.⁠⁠The duo has been quietly building on Quebec's festival circuit for years, but that single KEXP upload changed everything, putting their genuinely unusual musicianship in front of an audience that had no framework for what it was seeing.⁠⁠Guitarist/loop pedalist Khn and drummer Klek perform entirely in a made-up language, paint every inch of exposed skin, and play through masks with only small eye slits cut out. At the center of the sound is Khn's custom double-necked microtonal guitar. It’s an instrument built to access the tones that fall between standard Western notes, drawing on their lifelong interest in Indian, Arabic, Japanese, Indonesian, and Turkish music. ⁠⁠The anonymity started as a practical joke in 2019 to avoid being recognized at a venue they'd already played that week.
