That time I dragged my 8x10 camera out to the streets of Milwaukee. I actually had a cop in an unmarked car start to drive towards me until he realized I was just taking a photo the smiled and waved as he drove off. Funny.

Back when I couldn't afford an 8x10 camera for my wet plate collodion photography, I built one. It's a sliding box camera, even built the plate holder/focusing screen. Clearly a clunky thing but pretty light and I got some amazing photos in Colorado & Utah. The antique brass lens is nice too.

Really feeling like having a website is a waste of time these days. My web stats show that most of my traffic lately is probably from bots from China & Singapore scraping my site, probably training AI on my art, or stealing it as I’ve seen before. What a fun world we’ve built.

Cassette friends… and thoughts on what this squealing is? Had a repair guy look at it and he couldn’t hear it. (Not sure how well he checked it!) It is intermittent. Sometimes it can play for 20 minutes without a sound, other times it does this. Continued below…

And more cassette tape madness from the box the Swans tape was in. One photo has some from tape trades or ones I dubbed for the car, the other is radio shows, largely industrial/experimental stuff from WMSE in Milwaukee from the early 90’s. Again, sooo long ago.

I knew I had a Swans cassette somewhere! Well played but still sounds good. Wow, 1986… how the hell have 40 years passed since I got this tape?! 😕

Experimenting today. Feeling like going back to the dark side of my art to correspond with the dark times ahead. Photo printed on natural/tan letterhead, waxed, and dry silver powder pigment.

Scrolling through older photos and this reminded me of how I never print in the darkroom anymore. Defender 55-D is probably my favorite black and white paper developer. You need to mix it from scratch since it’s no longer made these days. Lovely tones and a slight warmth to it.
