The whole “undiscovered gem” culture is nice: you get a spotlight on talented people. But why are these people, particularly women, identified by their day jobs? Dental hygenist, housewife, librarian… how about talented musician who just needed to keep life going (like the men they talk about)?

I dreamed that deer could climb up the sides up tall buildings, and when they fell or jumped off, they would float gracefully down and land on their feet.

This was recommended to me when I was asking around for more bands like Akai Tori. I like it. It’s sort of like if the Beatles were from Japan and listened to nothing but releases from Stax Records and the early catalogue Trad Gras Och Stenar.

Hamlet is a great actor and is super laser focused as long as lots of treats are involved. 🐶🩶✨ He was the goodest boy during filming and had his eyes locked in on the bag of treats the entire time.

I have been dealing with some heavy issues over the last week: my father died. Our relationship was..complicated. We had been estranged for about 20 years and his passing is both a shadow lifting and a sorr of survey of just a complete mess. Some days I am great, today was less great.

In my musical life, I have had this conversation so many times (on the other side) and it wasn’t until I took a little theory that made me realize why people got so mad when I couldn’t identify key. And why so many of my collaborations had failed!
