I dictate to write text on my phone a lot. Is there any way to get the iPhone dictation to stop inserting random commas in weird places? I can dictate my own punctuation; I’m very comfortable doing it because I use Dragon at work. But the random inserted punctuation is driving me crazy.

I’ve had chronic neck and trapezius pain in my whole life. It turns out that breastfeeding and carrying a newborn really makes things worse! I’m doing some stretching, heat, etc. But really having trouble changing ergonomics enough to matter, when I’m holding him for many hours every day.

I care for children in the hospital on inpatient & consult services. Most weeks there are at least a few kids admitted with vaccine preventable diseases. Often in children who can’t get vaccinated themselves. 15 years in pediatrics and I’ve never seen a single one admitted with vaccine injury.

Pet peeve: when media reports someone “was hospitalized” for something, when really they were seen in the ER and discharged. It’s so dramatic and aggrandizing. Anyone can check in to be seen in the ER for any reason. It doesn’t inherently imply they were having an emergency.

I understood how often I would have to burp the baby, but I was not prepared for how often I would have to fart to the baby. (They lose their gastrocolic reflex around four weeks old and have to learn how to fart/poop, which is very difficult at first!)

I got my titers checked due to being pregnant. Turns out that I no longer had immunity to measles! You can’t get an MMR vaccine while you’re pregnant. But I got one the day after he was born, and I’m so glad of it! Also happy that he will get some of my antibodies in breast milk.

The only time I diagnosed legionella pneumonia is when I was a resident in NYC, a man came in with cough/fever, said he was an AC repairman, and that his boss told him to go get checked for legionnaires. It was like a test question walked in as a patient and then also gave me the right answer.
