An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

Denmark lost more troops per capita in the post 9/11 war on Afghanistan. Saying they “are not a good ally” because they won’t surrender their territories to the US is lunacy. We are betraying our allies to satisfy the whims of a would-be Emperor for whom the US is not enough.

I’ve heard both for far too long — I moved to Los Angeles from New York in 1994 to become a full-time film critic for the LA Weekly (R.I.P.), and I’ve lived here ever since. I always assume that most NY media BS about Los Angeles is a result of ignorance, tight deadlines and pure jealousy.

A smarter model for paying for college: income-based repayment. You start paying your student loans only once you earn enough to comfortably get by. That turns higher ed debt into something more like a tax surcharge on success, not a choke collar on people who are struggling.

I’ve heard most journalists and politicians say that Trump hasn’t been directly accused of wrongdoing or implicated in the Epstein Files. But, there are repeated instances of Trump being directly named as a perpetrator—by victims and by Epstein. It’s not circumstantial, it’s direct.

And here’s the kicker, as Stephannie Stokes (who wrote this story) reported in a follow-up piece: After taking their kids away, Georgia often bills parents for the cost of foster care. One mother was charged nearly $13,000, with interest, and threatened with jail when she couldn’t pay.

In general, with any generative systems, if they’re suggesting humans providing input for the machine to make the final output, vs machines providing options for the human to make the final output, then you should be deeply skeptical. Not “human in the loop”, but “fluent human as authority”.
