"All is lost" narratives are popular because people generally do not want to take action. Taking action is tiring so if all is lost, you are off the hook. Nothing is more seductive than not having to do anything.

People are organically shifting to taking care of one another and beginning to rediscover interconnectedness. There’s something growing and it doesn’t matter that it isn’t being harnessed by a political party. At some point it will shift the balance of power.

So deeply moving to me to think of the power and humility of determined, steady collective resistance in this way. So grateful for this way of seeing @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social ❤️‍🔥

Picture in your mind the world you’d love to see the children you know grow up to inherit. I know you can think of all the obstacles in the way of that world. I’m asking you to challenge yourself to think of ways through & around them. Because the absence of progress isn’t proof of impossibility.

So incredibly moving hearing Stacey Abrams speak yesterday. She said something so powerful about the many ways we can work on democratic process in this time. “I can’t know what influence I’ll have so I try to stay curious. Work in teams to solve problems. Do good. And pull every lever I can”.

Right, the answer isn't to abandon the party to these weasels. The answer is to flood the party with people who will take it over and transform it.

I know many of us are tired, scared & angry. When you can, if you can, channel that into doing what you can to help. Every day it's more clear the only ones who are going to save us ... are us. Whenever you start to say "people should do x," it's you. You're "people." We're "people." It's just us.

If you do not have the spine for this, no shame, but you have to resign and let someone else take the seat. World history is dancing on the head of a pin, no weak links.

It’s not going to be left versus center. It will be fighters vs capitulators. Big tent for anyone willing to fight.

Every federal worker who has been clocking in without pay, every protestor who showed up for No Kings, every voter who turned out for Dems Tuesday, every community member confronting SS ICE in our streets - all of us braver & better than these "leaders."

That’s just it. In the Democratic Party, the question isn’t moderate or leftist right now. It’s whether or not a dem understands that the old political playbook for dealing with the right is obsolete.

One of the most practical things we can all do is get our money out of what’s funding fascism and get it into local community as much as possible. Remember every step we take in this direction helps.
