When we launched Multisolving Institute in 2021, we called our new endeavor a “think-do tank,” and that felt like a pretty good description at the time. It was a way to affirm that creating a just and sustainable world will take doing, not just thinking.

Great 🧵! So many ways to tame the "overwhelm." Reduce, reuse (create from cast-offs), compost to heal/enrich soil, grow fresh produce to nurture your soul and share with others, monitor consumption, value renewable energy and community, connect with and learn from all, etc. etc.

My friends, I don't want to rush to Mars or the moon to theoretically have the energy and materials to prop up extractive capitalism for another century or so.

Consider: the overwhelm you feel is the signature product of extractive systems that require exponential growth to continue.

I heard there's gonna be fusion facilities in space by early 2027. At the latest 2028.

To me the guiding question has to be: What is a politics that is directed and singularly focused at the source of people's pain and suffering? - That is not a question of interest to the abundance Dems or the fascists.

Yes. And... the commonplace definitions of efficiency (production per unit of input) in capitalism leave pollution, waste, and harm to communities out of the denominator and aren't too concerned about the quality of the numerator either.

One word that comes to mind is #solarpunk The torrent of ugliness does not feel sustainable. People try to imagine desirable futures as best they can. Seeking beauty and harmony is not utopic, has been forever a pillar of human society. We just need to reinvent it for the reality of now 🌱

I think the two most atrophied capacities in the cultures of the global north are: 1) acceptance and active relationship with uncertainty & humility 2) the ability to build and maintain healthy communities that allow for cooperation, individuation & self-regulation.

What if the prolem(s) aren't with the idea of AI, but instead with the incentives of economy it is currently situated in? Would a well-being economy have AI? What would it's purposes be? AI for well-being - what would it be like?
