Just in case Chicago TV viewers want to avoid the primary local outlets of the corporations who made this Kimmel thing happen: — Disney is obviously WLS/ABC 7. — Nexstar is WGN 9. — Sinclair is Marquee Sports Network. — and Fox is Fox 32 and WPWR 50.

Bob Iger was president of Disney when Bill Maher made a comment about 9/11 on “Politically Incorrect” that got a lot of backlash, including from the White House. Affiliates & advertisers dropped the show, and it was canceled a few months later. ABC did NOT, however, immediately take it off the air.

@tvmojoe.bsky.social noted a few minutes ago and I confirmed. ABC is pulling Kimmel “indefinitely,” the network says.

Update: It's not just Nexstar “Jimmy Kimmel Live will be preempted indefinitely” - per an ABC spokesperson

Nexstar also is trying to buy another big owner of local stations, Tegna, and will need to plead before the royal court (get FCC approval) for that.
