It's not at all a game where everything has to go perfect from start to finish in order to get a confession, even with Shiori, and figuring out how to improvise out of obstacles is part of the fun. Min/max'ing and save scumming take out a lot of the fun; I wouldn't worry about needing to grind.

I'll repeat what I said years ago: if Umamusume is your first character raising sim and you find that combo of planning and gameplay-driven, cause and effect storytelling engrossing, good news: there's a whole world of classics awaiting you. For example, you're now ready for Tokimeki Memorial. 😌
