DS2 starting off strong

First impression of DS2 having not played almost any of it past the tutorial and into first zone bonfire: This game absolutely is not a Miyazaki directed game and you can TELL. It has a general feel of jank that every other Souls game doesn't have.

I beat Dark Souls. 10/10 game with like a billion asterisks. The world is a 20/10 and so interesting and well built. But mechanically it can break so frequently and often the way the game works doesn't gel smoothly with how they wanted you to parkour around.

Because I didn't pick the master key, I've actually beaten almost every optional boss in the game purely because most of the time they become required without the master key.

After I finish DS1 I'm going immediately into DS2. I had never played either 1 or 2. I played a good chunk of DS3 but got stuck and quit, similar to how it used to be with BB. At some point in between, I need to finish Demons Souls. Maybe I should do that first idk.

Getting closer to the end of DS1. I just have to beat Bed of Chaos and then I'm in the final area. I max leveled the Zweihander so I'm kinda coasting through bosses now. This shit staggers everything while also doing like 600 dmg a hit.

Everything about what you do in the Catacombs area is fucking stupid. Pinwheel is a worthless boss that died in 3 hits followed by one of the worst designed boss fights I've ever seen with Nito. How would anyone know that you don't use the whole arena because it activates the large skeletons.

I think one of the coolest mechanics in FGs is still the Melty rising jA CH being untech to the ground. Game is one of the most obtuse to antiair in, but landing CH jA into 2C starter on the ground is pretty sweet.

The more I play DS1, the more I can understand why someone would not like ER as an older Souls fan. The bosses in ER hinge on being ludicrously unfair and usually lack a clear gimmick that is meant to be the trick to the fight. You just have to react better most of the time.

I'm brute forcing my stats into allowing me to continue this Strength/Poise build despite breaking the first FaP ring. Health almost doesn't matter at this point if I can just get my endurance high enough to midroll the black knight set. Then I can stack Havel/RoP and being a fucking tank.

Anor Londo is frankly not a very well thought out area. Like I get what they were going for. They wanted to make the area seem way bigger than it really is by having you sort of parkour around the rooftops, but the game's mechanics don't support it very well.

I used the npc summon for Iron Golem and that was the funniest boss fight of all time. Both me and the NPC alternated stun locking the golem in a stagger until he died.

Capra Demon is one of the most poorly designed boss fights in all of gaming. -Can't see shit going through the fog which is BAD because they spawn the demon and the dogs literally right in front of the fog -the arena is TINY for some fucking reason Anyway, I killed him in 3 hits. lol

Finished Bloodborne. I definitely sort of broke the difficulty curve by farming echos in the cum dungeon for like an hour to hit the leveling soft caps, but I don't care, it's finally over and I can continue the Souls game marathon.

I've been very slowly chugging along in Bloodborne. I'm past halfway finally and tbh the mobs and certain enemy gimmicks like the bell maiden are FUCKING annoying. I've died less to bosses than I have just trying to deal with new mob gimmicks.
