That was an event! Before the movie they screened 3 Hakaider-centric episodes of the original Kikaider (38, 40, 42). Daisuke Ban made a surprise appearance. After the main feature (in full 35 mm glory) Keita Amemiya and Takayuki Takeya talked about the film, with director Nobuhiro Suzumura as MC.

Highlights: -Even the people who made this can’t believe it was shown alongside the Ohranger and B-Fighter films -The script didn’t have much detail, so Takeya (in charge of modeling coordination) just created a lot of ideas on the fly. The creature in Kaoru’s dream is just “a skeleton” on paper

-The triangular keyhole and unlocking device in the beginning of the film came from a dream Takeya had after a few drinks -Amemiya was worried Ishinomori wouldn’t like that Michael’s face turns into Kikaider’s, but his reaction was actually positive. That got applause from the theater.

related to prev thread: why I talk about action games as if they're puzzle games when they seem like polar opposite genres is bc I feel they're -way- more similar than you think. action games, imo, are literally puzzle games but with a fast pace and with a wider margin of error (and vice-versa)
