if you want a good recommend for a game that's just got a LOT of ideas at once, try ADK's Ninja Master's the one mechanic most people will gravitate towards is the normal strings, which function closer to later NRS and 3D fighter titles than Capcom target combos. very neat

playing old fighting games makes me appreciate the convergent evolution of mechanics, where devs would take notes of what ideas are popular and try to implement them in their own way (sometimes to improve upon, or just riff) gives an idea of what developers believed to be their core identity

man, no one online seems to know what "Just Hits" are in Fighting Layer. It's something they tease in the intro (along with "Blow Quits" i.e. clashes, Hard Reversal i.e. wakeup attack, etc.) is it just timing hits during moves? It's known you can do that on Blair's super but I've seen nothing else
