US law explicitly bans immigration restrictions based on ethnicity, race, or national origin. That has been the law for 60 years. It hasn't been repealed or struck down. The central purpose of our 1965 law was to ban ethnicity-based immigration restrictions.

It is great that the elected leaders of Europe made a democratic, collective decision to lower trade barriers with Mercosur countries. Interchange with Europe is a powerful attraction! The EU really knows how to hide its light under a bushel. It has just passed the world's biggest trade deal (with Mercosur) - using a written procedure among ambassadors, making the public barely notices a huge strategic step forward for Europe. Contrast with Trump's made-for-TV signing ceremonies.
