Elon's involvement in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race cost his candidate around 5% of the vote--even though he spent $25 million dollars on his behalf. Elon's endorsee ran 5 points behind the other statewide Republican candidate. That's an unbelievably negative return on investment.

Reporters, commentators, etc. not quite understanding the actual work ability of a programmer is one of these problems that I think is starting to surface. A fair portion of my work is leading engineering teams doing automations interfacing with very complicated government regulations.

Hold off on USAID obituaries and suggesting staff have gone. Most actions so far are under legal challenge, only Congress can get rid of USAID (and its funding), the staff are on administrative leave. What has happened is terrible, but it is time to push back, not give in.

As a patriotic American, I would like my country to stop doing bad, harmful things and start doing good, constructive things. Making good policy is hard and well-intentioned people can be unintentionally cruel. But avoiding intentional cruelty is not hard.
