Once you understand that about 1 in 4 people are deeply addicted to the pleasure of harming other people, America makes sense. Evil is ordinary.

the US and the UK are similar in that if 100 bigoted right wingers show up to a protest it can be top of the hour/front page/rolling cable news coverage. if 50,000 people do a left-coded protest they all ignore it

The Colorado Democratic Party has formally condemned and censured Governor Jared Polis for granting clemency to Tina Peters. Polis is hereby banned from speaking or being honored at party events. 90% of CDP central committee members voted to reprimand Polis.

BREAKING: Harry Dunn and Daniel Hodges, two law enforcement officers who clashed with Jan. 6 insurrectionists, have sued to block the Trump 'slush fund'. They're asking a federal judge to find the creation of the fund illegal and reverse any transfers that Treasury has made to DOJ to implement it.

Trump did not reach a settlement with the government. There was no case to settle. He has not created a slush fund. He has colluded with Todd Blanche to steal money from the US Treasury. This is not a “deal.” This is a crime for which Trump & Blanche must be prosecuted. It ia a crime.

the endpoint of the scheme Peters was a part of and attempting to execute is to end the United States Constitution, abrogate any of the freedoms Americans enjoy and then ultimately enslave us. This is in some ways *worse* than treason as defined as assisting a foreign enemy.

Gerontocracy is how I still occasionally see people talk about AOC being too "young" and "inexperienced" for a presidential run despite the fact that in 2028 she will be 39 and have spent a quarter of that life as a US congressional member sitting on 5 different oversight and finance committees.

Gov. Polis’ commutation of Tina Peters’ sentence is wrong. She is in prison because she broke the law and was given an appropriate sentence. As Governor, I will always stand up for the rule of law and fight for election integrity--and never give in to the bullying of the Trump Administration.

Yes. It's been clear that we've been in this disintegrating moment since Bush stole the 2000 election — a massive norms-busting escalation that blew up the 20th century political system. Democrats have now had two chances in power since to repair or reform the system and punted both times.

The largest ever settlement or jury award for government violations of constitutional rights to a single person is $100 million, or 1 percent of what Trump demanding for the leak of his tax returns. That case -- a killing by police -- was reduced to $1 million on appeal.

Let all pretense that this is about “law” die. The Supreme Court is a group of partisan actors intervening on behalf of the political party they support and against the will of the voters. It is the obligation of the next Congress that is committed to the Constitution to reconstruct the rogue SCOTUS
