In my capacity as journal editor I want to say this: authors you are not doing yourself any favours by using AI to write your manuscript. I am finding convoluted arguments, bizarre language, weird expressions, and dull writing. Using AI to 'improve' your language may be a pathway to rejection.

As an object: AI systems are themselves social phenomena and social artifacts. They are built by particular institutions, trained on particular human outputs, governed by particular interests. Treating them as merely technical misses most of what they actually are and how they are used in society.
