Iād like to add something else to this convo: many of people who qualify for permanent residency in the United States would no longer qualify if they went home ā because their existing visa is on the basis of refugee status (fear of home) or a job theyād lose. Like itās absurd at every level.

The barbarism of Israelās settlers will destroy not the colony, which is already dying, but the postcolonial future of the region when its inhabitants, Jews, Christians and Muslims eventually have to live together. The west will eventually cut its imperial losses and the Zionist colony will collapse

tbh i don't really want to read another collection of barely fictionalized stories about "hard partying [white urban transplant] trans women" any more than i want to read another trans memoir

People predominately frame anti-AI college kids as material, as about their future jobs, but people forget how much aesthetics and culture motivate us at that age, and I think theres an equally widespread rejection of slop on the grounds of cultural murder

it's fun how working on what used to be considered relatively "safe" immigration cases has become enshittified and deskilled in direct proportion to how brutally and overtly racist us immigration policy has gotten over the past couple of years

I donāt know what to tell you, man. Iām a medieval historian, and, in my field, if you donāt check your sources (and your sourcesā sources) you are just asking to be taken for a ride by some bored 19th C. aristocratic English antiquarian with a penchant for inventing history.

it was a mistake giving me a lesbian manager for two and a half years. now that she's left i have to work with men again. i don't mean to be cruel but they'll say something incredibly stupid and i'll ask them what they mean by that. and they just apologize. i hope i get fired soon

once you ignore minor and pesky things like distributional effects on who gets access to the highest productivity regions in the country, it's obvious that this is clearly an optimal price clearing policy and no interventions are required.

There is no āpro-humanā version of AI. There is only the knot of machining enslavement. AI is almost the perfect machine for it not only holds out the promise of slavery without the human slave, it simultaneously captures and abstracts all human capacity into capital.

What the genocide in Gaza reinforced is that there are no "civilians" when it comes to Israel and the United States. The rest of the world learned the same lesson and the consequences are going to be felt across the world.

AI seems like an anti-technology to me not only bc it seems fundamentally flawed but also bc it actively undermines technological literacy. it is being leveraged in my workplace to devalue and deskill my labor and i am organizing against that. i don't mind being called a "luddite" in that context

in every single scene of debate over trans youth the right does in fact support both "social" and "medical" transition for youth if they are intersex. all of this hysteria is over stuff they actually do support, provided it is explicitly done to children without their consent
