Platner is going to lose and I will be left wondering why so many people lifted him up as the answer.

Was just talking about this on CNN and my (obvious) point was that there is no reason to give DOJ any benefit of the doubt on this. The burden of proof lies with the administration to show that it is legitimate — which they won’t be able to do — not the other way around.

One of the most powerful ways media bias works is, when a politician says something that can be taken in a negative light, the story is "embattled scandal-plagued fuckup fucks up again! We ask all their colleagues about how much they suck and print the 3 worst responses"

I still don’t understand why Trump gets such favorable treatment by the American press. This quote is 100% real but does not seem to be covered on

. My sense is that they’d argue that context matters, but there is no way another president gets away with this.

Is it good when a message communicated by the Democratic Whip produces a pit in your stomach? Over the last 50 years the GOP has run on “Democrats are evil” but here we have Dem leadership telling voters “the GOP is inherently reasonable”.

It’s a bummer to see this kind of pushback on what Obama said in this quote. Democrats do not communicate well with voters and this has been true for years and was incredibly clear in 2024.

Asking "what happened to Rudy?" is asking the wrong question. Asking "why did the mainstream media portray a fascist as a moderate (or even quasi-liberal) gets-things-done problem solver for decades" gets you much closer to understanding the world.

I realize this is obvious to most but allow me to rant: At the core of Trump's base love for him is a simmering resentment over their mediocrity and gratitude for him making it permissible to be arrogant whilst mediocre. Everything in this cult can be traced back to that. (thread)

Contrary to public perception a huge % of pregnant teenagers in the 1990s were impregnated by adult men. The younger they were, the larger the average age gap between mother and father was. Fixing teen pregnancy was in part a clampdown on statutory rape. That's what conservatives want to reverse.
