I don't want to seem like I had low expectations, but this project turned out SO WELL. The art is amazing throughout, and many of the jokes are ACTUALLY FUNNY. Kudos to editors Chip Zdarsky and Marie Javins. (I'm in here! I did an "Anatomy of ..." bit.)

Here's another What If? where Doom shows up in face bandages and full-length jacket and hood, and Ben Grimm calls him a "preppy dork." (man-staring-at-butterfly meme: "is this preppy?")

This is great reporting and a compelling read.

You can ABSOLUTELY come to one of these events to talk comics. We talked She-Hulk and Runaways on my last tour. The themes that I cover in comics tend to overlap with the themes of my books.

I'm also really excited to talk to people about Slow Dance. You don't get to talk about a book until the NEXT tour. I still feel like I haven't gotten to go deep on Cary and Shiloh.

I'm really looking forward to this tour. My last two tours were special in a way that surprised me. They felt like very intense book clubs, where we all came to really DIG IN to the books. The questions were as likely to be about Attachments or Pumpkinheads as one of my more recent books.

Great book on sale!

The most troubling thing about The Family Stone is how often an event takes place at breakfast and then the characters seem to still be immediately reacting to it after dark. Entire days disappear. I'm to believe that Sarah Jessica Parker's character spent HOURS soaked in raw eggs?

I'm trying to drink less diet pop, but diet pop science has gotten too good. I just had a Cherry Coke Zero, and it was transcendent.

I was like, "The people demand a Generation X Holiday Spectacular." But Marvel was like, "Noooo, it HAS to be Spider-Man." Sorry, Angelo.

It's astonishing how badly most of the tech in my life works. How it's become overcomplicated and burdensome. How every app and program and device forces options that I don't want and that slow me down. In every case, they've moved past their ideal state into this convoluted mess.

In one of my last books, I caved and changed a bunch of commas to semicolons, and I regret it. It sounds false! (This is not a knock on semicolons, which I use all the time -- occasionally correctly. This is about specific situations when only a comma will do.)

Sometimes characters run sentences together! I can't help that! I try to use semicolons and dashes, but they sound different than a comma. Sometimes you have to splice!!!!

As I edit this next book (not Cherry Baby, the next one), I'm mentally preparing to defend A LOT of comma splices.

I loved this documentary. (Even though 2025 is a painful time to watch it.)
