I hope Shrek 5 doesn't go full legacy sequel/obsess over referencing 1-4. Ppl moaned about the TikTok/meme stuff in the teaser, but THAT self referential stuff is fine - it's always skewered pop culture, why not get meta? But NO constant references & rehashed gags from the other films for nostalgia.

Like it or not, the age of 'the MCU' is over. The die-hards will stick around and they'll continue to be successful (relatively speaking), but the casual audience is done. Who can be bothered keeping up with 2/3 mediocre films a year anymore? Especially when it was all wrapped up so well previously.

I've since realised that this list doesn't have Shrek 2 (2004) or WALL-E (2008), and for that I was wrong.

Yuck. Just watch the OG. 86 years old and still one of the most magical films ever made. If ever a classic didn't need 'touching up'...

Her performance in MD makes perhaps my favourite scene in all of cinema. Beautiful and haunting. I was lucky enough to see her perform live at

in 2018 and she was stunning. Just like listening to the screen versions of her performances. An incredible voice. RIP.

Dan Trachtenberg hasn't just saved the Predator franchise, he's made it stronger than ever. Killer of Killers is bloody brilliant. Badlands can't come soon enough.

So, it seems M. Frost is open to a Twin Peaks continuation in some form. I'd be very surprised if some streamer or another isn't breaking down his door at some point to get that on TV. Perhaps paired with a new, respected writing partner.

A very big Star Wars podcast starting this week's episode joking about dead Ghormans as "fried meat" for a hotdog. I get that this stuff is fantasy, but I just think, maybe read the room? Kinda put me off for good.

23 Years Later, Star Wars' Most Unexpected Sci-Fi Inspiration Makes A Glorious Return
In 'Andor' Season 2, Bix and Cassian are basically living in Deckard's apartment in 'Blade Runner.' Here's why.

Andor is a masterpiece that inspires the absolute worst takes from some who recognise its greatness. Just saw someone describe Andor as "the most George Lucas" Star Wars show, which is just hilariously wrong. The man would've sooner made The Book of Boba Fett, and I don't mean that disparagingly.

One of my favourite shots in all of Star Wars. It's like a renaissance painting. Mon Mothma gazing back towards the life she's leaving behind. Her family and friends sacrificed for the struggle. Before heading to the party and dancing through the pain.

A girl I knew in college saw David Lynch speak at an event. When it ended, she found a way to get to the front to tell him how much his films and shows meant to her. His response was “Thank you. And remember, the universe is in your basement.”

Thanks to all for your kind remembrances on this awful day. Words will come later. Only feelings at the moment. Mourn and remember him but don’t forget to celebrate too. We won’t see his like again. The man from another place has gone home.

Such sad news about David Lynch. The greatest of the greats. At the age of 14 I rented his films from our local video store over and over again. I still remember that buzzy, electric feeling of being inspired to the depths of my soul and feeling like anything was possible if these films existed.

In interviews, David Lynch has commented on Stanley Kubrick’s screening of Eraserhead (around the time Lynch was in London making The Elephant Man). Here’s and an anecdote from someone who was at that screening (from “Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining” by Rinzler and Unkrich):

Star Wars "became" a film for kids? I love Denis but this really proves why he'd be a terrible choice to make one of these anyway.

this is a perfectly stated embodiment of how so many filmmakers have come to see the artifice of film as something to hide and in doing so paradoxically makes their movies look and feel incredibly artificial

It's extremely flawed, but this show - along with The Mandalorian - captured the sense of bizarre adventure from George Lucas's Star Wars better than most other attempts.
