I'm in a group of entrepreneurs covering wide range of topics — electrical panels, renting tuxedos, medical research... — that meets regularly for training. We had a session on AI and I shut up, trying to learn and not express skepticism. All the questions and reactions were skeptical.

The "Edit this chart" feature on Datawrapper is really neat. 📊 This chart is on their blog, but we can tweak it for our own use. In this case, I needed it for training, but the inverted colour scheme (🔴=like; 🔵=dislike) was going to be a distraction. Changed in a few clicks.

An emerging tension in the dataviz world is that certain institutions like the NYT/WaPo are recognized for the quality of their dataviz work, while also gradually losing their moral center. I believe they should be held into account, despite their standing, so I'm glad to see Alberto call bullshit.

"I’ll read it later" (ie bookmarks) is one of the biggest lies we tell ourselves on the Internet. If you don’t want to read it now, you won’t want later either. Delicious closed a long time ago. Netflix knows our Watch later lists are a joke. Now, Pocket is out.

Love this story and the way it's told! This kind of sizing method for clothes also creates a perverse sort of brand loyalty – once I find a brand that fits sensibly I'm way more likely to look at what else they have rather than try out another brand.

I'm working on our dataviz training material and it strikes me that the challenge is not so much what knowledge to impart but HOW to communicate it. This is pedagogy, a completely different expertise and I don't know that information designers are much better equipped for it than anyone else!
