A favorite recent project: Peakscapes. I love the layered looks you get in the
#mountains
, and I always want to be able to name everything in view. These designs provide a cleaner, more idealized view of the landscape than a photo can. Are they

? Or geographic art? I'm not sure.

I think small multiples may be my favorite visualization technique. I love how these maps from the

give a sense of the polar vortex dissolving from a concentrated mass of bitter cold air to a much larger area of merely very cold air.

Data viz folks: I'm interested in creating a data viz feed. Some good ones already exist, but aren't quite what I'm looking for. I'm thinking about a combo of adding users to a feed (opt in) + a tag/emoji so only specific posts show in the feed. I'm curious: what would your ideal feed look like?

So I do this experiment every 6 months where I put photo paper in a can with a tiny hole to record the sun light⦠Well, this year's
#solargraphy
didn't quite work out as planned β paper got wet, not enough light, β¦ but there is some beauty to the imperfection as well.
