I just received my food delivery that I was able to purchase because I RECEIVED my SNAP benefits today. I sobbed. I didn't expect that reaction. I cried for the relief of having access to food but it was ALSO for the 42M under so much stress and for the MILLIONS who have NOT received their benefits.

Did you know that in Canada, if a budget doesn’t pass the government doesn’t shut down? Federal workers aren’t furloughed. Funding for social services doesn’t dry up. Failure to pass a budget triggers an election. It puts the politicians jobs on the line. They get the budget passed.

Unacceptable. There are 189,000 people in my district who will be paying 50–300% more for the same, and in many cases worse, healthcare. I won’t do that to the people I represent. I’m a NO on this “deal.”

Most people don’t know that with SNAP you are banned from buying “foods that are hot at the point of sale”. So even if you have SNAP (which people don’t now) you can’t get cooked food. Which means you need to also actually have the resources to PREPARE a “healthy” meal.

The regime despises poor people, yes. And importantly it does not fear poor people as a political force. It's important to take both of these together to understand what they are doing with SNAP. They do not believe that they will incur lasting political costs for their current actions.
