You all harbor some deeply racist and anti-Black beliefs about a lot of the black women around you who happen to be dark and fat. Seriously. You have some really sick feelings about being confronted with them and Blackness in one of its purest forms.

When you take titties/boobs and you add Blackness to the mix? It all gets really batsh!t. This is no doubt, due to, let’s say, the legacies of slavery (re: the BW being made to nurse the children of the men who were assaulting them day in and day out). So there’s a very dark history there.

If there is a fictional character I could give the sun, moon, and stars to, it would be Miss Annie. As the apple of Smoke’s eye (and now mine), she was a powerhouse in every sense of the word.

It goes without saying that Ryan is a genius. But more importantly, Ryan has a very clearly understanding of how inherently spiritual Black people and leads with that understanding in works like Sinners (and his interpretation of the ancestor realm in the Black Panther films).

THAT. MUSICAL SEQUENCE. It goes without saying that one of the best, and I mean BEST, parts of Sinners is the musical sequence that takes place during the midpoint of the film. Threading the Black American musical tradition and experience through TIME and SPACE was sick. Ryan is a sick man!
