If you want to pursue something, don't be discouraged by how long it may take. The time is going to go by anyway. You can either be moving toward something you want to see happen, or not.

Loose Ends posts always lift me up. This hand-pieced double wedding ring quilt is a treasure, as are the people who came together to finish it.

As an individual, I made the decision to seek out a booster shot. I was told I need a prescription and don't qualify (basically because I'm already healthy enough). So someone else actually made the decision for me.

Yesss libraries! ✨✨✨ Speaking of library digital services, if your library offers access, some great options are the Kanopy app for a huge variety of films (
www.kanopy.com
) and the Libby app for e-books and audio books (
libbyapp.com
). 10/10 highly recommend!

Here's a thread of the art I spend most of my time on: themed pet portraits. They are all commissions, and I love collaborating with pet weirdos to portray these lil guys. I have done around 250 of these and they are each different. If you ever wonder what I'm working on, it's probably one of these.

I’m an education reporter. At a journalism conference. And I didn’t know about yesterday’s school shooting until a friend - whose child attends the school - called me this morning. That is insane weight of coverage.

If you live in a major US city and have a mayoral race this year (like NOLA does), its probably important to know from a candidate how they would react if the federal government attempted to occupy your city. Should maybe ask. Idk.

And when everything clicks, your art has the potential to help others around you also process what’s going on or helps them find release or pleasure despite the chaos. This is important work at any time but especially in the face of fascism.

I think it can be difficult sometimes to sit down and make art when the world is on fire but making art can help you process what is going on. It’s not so much self-care(which is a phrase I kind of loathe) as a process that helps you find ways to move forward through this nightmare.

If you have a venue, restaurant, store, bar... with a website, please include accessibility info. I shouldn't have to do extensive homework to determine if my husband can safely access your space. I shouldn't have to beg for this info from gold-star arts orgs in 2 cities, and not receive a response.
