One downside of Orange-tips (Anthocharis cardamines) using Honesty (Lunaria annua) as a food plant we've observed is it's not uncommon for the female to lay her egg on the petal, as here, which almost always drops to the ground before the egg has hatched. Photo by Kevin Radley

Something I'm concerned about is 'nature heals' approaches to health, especially perhaps mental health, surely the reality is that it does for some people. I don't mean that some people have no interest in or liking for nature, I mean people who do. Potentially we may be ignoring the needs of people

We want to take the ‘May’ out of No-Mow May. May has just begun, but letting the grass grow is something you can do throughout the year to create a wildlife friendly garden. Mowing the lawn only once every four weeks boosts nectar production tenfold 🦋

Just when we thought we'd got most of the invasive "marmoratum" Arum it was realised that a fallen branch lay across the last of it. Job's got worse. Last Archangel also good at hiding in dense Holly scrub! We'll deal with it later but need a break from this bank for a bit.
