Brandon Marsh's osprey nest is attracting lots of birds, except, none of them are osprey! 😅 We've so far spotted barn owls, kestrels, crows and geese using the platform despite the team's best efforts to keep the nest clear for its intended guests.

We have an egg! 🐣 Mum & dad aren't incubating the egg yet, but don't worry! Peregrine eggs have a smart adaptation which means they don't need warming until the second-to-last egg is laid. This will help all the chicks hatch at the same time in around five weeks. Watch at https://ow.ly/pSvA50YvHI7

We had a wonderful evening celebrating the GenWild Committee yesterday, and hearing about their achievements in 2025. The Committee is made up of 18-30 year olds who are passionate about wildlife and empower young adults to take action for nature. 🦋

The smew is an uncommon visitor to the midlands, where they're sometimes found on lakes and gravel pits. Adult males are unmistakable, but most of the ones you'll see in the UK are greyer females and young birds. Last year we had a few smew at Brandon Marsh nature reserve. Have you ever seen one?

What colours do you associate with winter? The obvious answers are white, for the occasional dusting of snow; or grey, for those short, rainy days. But winter is full of bright delights. If we look closely at nature, there are incredible colours to be found, even on the most overcast days. 🍁🪲🪶
