Billhooks were swinging at Lower Smite Farm recently when local farmers and Trust volunteers learnt the traditional art of hedge-laying with Laura Ealam. After five hours of training and completing 20 metres of laid hedge, participants left armed with new-found skills for use on their own farms.

Our #NaturalNetworks colleague Finley noticed this jelly ear fungus in a hedgerow whilst visiting a site to see what wildlife enhancements could be made for the benefit of nature. This gelatinous fungus grows on dead and dying branches, most commonly on elder 🌳🍄

Spot the odd one out! 🍅 Our colleague Dominique came across these cherry galls looking rather akin to underripe tomatoes at one of our nature reserves recently. Galls are created by the cherry gall wasp when it causes growths on the undersides of oak leaves.

Last week we went on a frosty walk at Trench Wood with our wonderful membership recruitment team. These catch-ups offer a great opportunity for the team to visit the places we are all working together to look after, have a catch-up, and hopefully spot some local wildlife. 🐾 ❄️

Last week our #WilderWorcestershire team and local volunteers Richard and Toby created this rather impressive stumpery at the Droitwich Wellbeing Hub. The stumpery was made using a mix of pre-existing rotting wood and recycled felled beech from the community garden. 🪵
