Pleased to see a few Small Tortoisehells (4 maybe 5) at my local spot by Wagon Lane Solihull this afternoon, especially as they crashed here last summer and numbers were much lower this spring than in recent years @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social

First time this year with a pheromone lure here in my Solihull garden this afternoon and was rewarded with two Red-tipped Clearwings to the FOR lure. This is exactly the same date as my first Red-tipped last year and 1 day earlier than 2023 @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social

6 species added to the 1st sightings list in May. Thankyou to everyone who submits their sightings. Looking forward to seeing which day flying moths & butterflies are added in June.

A newly emerged Lime Hawk-moth. This is one I reared from eggs left by a female in 2023 and which mostly emerged in 2024. This was one of 2 pupae which failed to emerge then and they still looked hearlthy so I kept them to try again this year @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social
