I had not seen Purple Emperor for a few years so thought it was about time I had a drive over to Fermyn Wood this morning. 15-20 seen with half a dozen groundings from 11.00. Lots of other butterflies seen when it brightened up

The last 2 Brimstones from the half dozen I raised from larvae emerged this morning. That made 5 males and 1 female.

A Marbled White that finally settled when the clouds built up later yesterday morning at Snitterfield Bushes near Stratford-upon-Avon.

One of two Brimstones that emerged today, raised from a few larvae taken from the alder buckthorn in my Solihull garden. Out of 30+ eggs I only found 6 larvae, no doubt due to predation by Great or Blue Tits of which there are loads around my garden.

I haven't run my moth trap here in my Solihull garden for a while but found a Small Ranunculus in my back room last night.

After getting a couple of Lunar Hornet Moths to the lure yesterday I took it in and put the VES lure out resulting in 9 Orange-tailed Clearwings during the afternoon. Also had the TIP lure out with 2 Currant Clearwings to it

I put the LUN lure out in my Solihull garden for the first time this year yesterday(Wed 11th) at 09.15 and 5 minutes later a Lunar Hornet Moth turned up. A 2nd one arrived just before 10.00 after which I brought the lure in @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social

2nd of the two Lime Hawk-moth pupa that overwintered twice emerged last night, a nice female with reduced markings. In summary, out of 6 raised, 4 emerged as normal in 2024 and 2 went through 2 winters as pupae before emerging @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social
