Thinking about this again as I see Premier Smith suggest using the Notwithstanding Clause to push forward the separatists agenda. Smart people say she can’t actually do this, but that’s beside the point. What should be a tool of last resort has become the first thing this government reaches for.

Among hard-core Alberta separatists, the level of contempt for courts and hate for Indigenous people is palpable following yesterday's ruling. This is going to be an ugly summer. Reasonable Albertans will need to stand up for the constitution and treaties. Staying silent is being complicit.+

This graph shows two things, 1) obviously that the cameras reduced speeding, but 2) that the improvement kept getting better over time. Speeders tend to get one or two tickets and then learn and change their behaviour. This isn't a cash grab, it's an extremely useful intervention.
