This weekend I implemented command passthrough to #PicoIDE over SMART Command Transport (which is done via creative use of the SMART log get/set commands). This way you can get status of the PicoIDE, load disc/disk images, etc., and being implemented with SMART means it works in user mode in Windows

GDI I found another exceedingly annoying bug in the new Windows 11 Notepad that has never existed until this version If you open a file, lets say from removable media (CD, USB, SD, etc), and then remove the media, previously it would stay opened, because files load INTO RAM Now? Notepad hard-locks

WALP that was just super odd and weird Both ProxySQL nodes on my network which run in a high-availability cluster via CARP on FreeBSD... Both failed to initialize CARP, therefor their shared HA IP address never got assigned to either node. Simple reboot of each fixed it, but weird troubleshooting

These "two cables" turn out to be 24 total fibers! For comparison, 12-fiber MTP/MPO cable vs 2-fiber cable. I needed a lot of high-bandwidth networking in one place not near the networking core, and didn't want another switch there anymore. This is a GREAT solution!

I ran into a very VERY interesting hardware incompatibility issue last night... A GPU that uses 40bit memory addressing. This limits the system's address space (yes, that means RAM and more) to only 1TB. The box had over 1TB addressable memory. So, what happened...?

This performance still boggles my mind! Triple Intel Optane drives in a RAID-Z1 configuration, dual 10gbe NICs, with the CPU and RAM to back it all up... in a freaggin ROUTER. 3 second "zpool scrub" times. I could run these hourly instead of daily, and still not notice any performance hit at all.

In case you were wondering the state of affairs right now... Just trying to purchase an early production run of a new NIC not released here in the USA yet.
