THE SOUL OF A NEW MACHINE was a foundational read as a kid. Last month I saw the computer that’s designed in the course of the book - a Data General Eclipse/MV 8000 - in person for the first time. That was a real moment for me.

The first of my exhibits for #VCFPNW on May 2-3: an NEC TREK! The TREK is a localized for North America PC-6001 with (thankfully) a non-chiclet keyboard. It uses an NEC Z80-compatible CPU with 16K of RAM, expandable to 32K. There's still a homebrew scene today!
