Having been a "man of leisure" officially for the past 6 months, I def experienced things that were expected but also dealt with some surprises. It def hasn't been "vacation" mode 24 hrs/day. But i now have in a daily routine & hope to travel some in the rest of 2026. It's been eye-opening.

I hate being at car dealers. Spent two hours buying out my leased car. Took 30 min to get all my personal and car info. Took another hour to see the finance guy & try to be sold extras. Then 30 min to deal with their computer problem & get the cashier check. This should not be so painful.

My web scraping script suddenly stopped working. This is after putting in a new ad blocking by DNS server up. Just discovered there is such a thing as DNS query limiting....

I'm not sure how the rest of you backup your day, but kudos for dealing with that shit. Spent 48 hours (some of sleepless at 2am) trying to clumsily backup apps, docs, media, & pron onto a new HD & 3 old ones. Waiting hours to copy TBs of data is def not fun. Maybe its time to backup to the cloud.

For those geography newbies (like me) having trouble identifying things in the recent full Earth image courtesy of the Artemis II & NASA: Spain with southern Europe on the lower left edge, Africa on the left, South America in the lower right, and the north pole is toward the lower left corner.

I've been trying to find a mythical number. But with a clever piece of tech, I pulled data off a semi-broken & deleted 32 year old HD, rebuilt the partition, undeleted many files, & found it in 2 files: ICQ user identification number: 2701900 (though it does seems like an oddly round number)

Thank God. But what awful personwl will take over next?

A Saturday and being lazy out in Golden, ColoRADo. Nothing writing with that.

Baked my first sandwich loaf. Def a more rustic tasting bread but better than the super market brand. with a rustic texture. Still getting used to baking at higher altitude baking & adjusting for dryer flour.

While I have a black thumb, @tavvytiggy.bsky.social has a def green thumb. He wintered my serrano pepper plant and it miraculously produced a bunch more peppers. Happy to have a healthy plant so early in this growing season.

Moved to CO 4 years ago. What a whirl wind it's been. Many great people and memories. Hope to make many more.
