Finished Shadow Ticket and it was phenomenal. Maybe the funniest novel I've ever read, I don't know why but Pynchon's humour really hit for me here and I was laughing every other page. I think thematically there is more going on than reviewers are giving it credit for.

I don't know if I could define my music taste in only eight artists but I'll try. The Weakerthans Teitanblood Mobb Deep The Brave Little Abacus Sun Ra The Drones Iannis Xenakis Kayo Dot That covers a lot of bases? A lot of those artists are pulling double, triple, or quadruple duty on style.

Some new books. Finally bought the remaining three Renee Gladman Ravicka novels after reading and loving Event Factory years ago, don't know why it took me so long but the set is complete now.

Currently doing two separate reads of Shadow Ticket, one sight reading and the other audio, and I have to say that I think audio is the way to go with this book. Pynchon's writing is so dialogue heavy and rhythmic, the narrator adds a real depth to the music of the dialect you don't get otherwise.

Just a modification of an opinion I recently expressed, but: novels can be any length. 100 pages or 1,000 pages, or seven 600 page volumes. It's cool. Sick of long novels? Go read the short ones. There's tonnes of them. You can all shut up about length now.

My hot take that I've made known before is that writing is a uniquely commercialised artform that gaslights writers into believing they're incapable of recognising quality in their own work. I stop myself from putting any old slop on the page.
