Maybe let's try winning this time.
If Platner keeps his lead in the polls, I think it's an interesting test to see what types of lefty ideas have permeated to the public. Left coded populism is compelling when presented by the right messenger. I also think that the left's promotion of second chances plays a role here too.

It kinda sucks that most debate on the left is an exercise of competing logics that are generally divorced from their real world implications. People plug in assumptions, often overbroad or not quite right, and plug them into an argument like it's a paper they need to finish for class.

One lesson I feel like the left should internalize more is that your actions and be both righteous and theoretically correct while ultimately dooming your cause. People act like conviction is free of consequence.

Good evening. We estimate that between 4.2 and 7.6 million people turned out for the No Kings Day demonstrations held around the country on Saturday. This makes Oct 18 very likely the biggest single-day U.S. protest event since 1970.

Yeah I do think the various attempts to will elite capitulation into being were briefly a successful bit of self-fulfilling prophesying but for various reasons are failing now - huge protests, university's rejecting the compact, the press refusing to go along with Hegseth's new pentagon policy, etc.

Based on early numbers, there are easily more people participating in the second No Kings Day than in the first. Trump's strategy of constantly talking about this on TV and GOP govs sending in the national guard obviously energized the left.

An underrated aspect in the discussion of how lefties should hold Zohran accountable is the relatively narrow band of organizing philosophies that guide the vast majority of work people participate in. I think we're seeing how the lack of strategic diversity guides politics, not the other way around

ICE left David, a 17-year-old boy, stranded on the side of Interstate 20 after pulling over his immigrant father, Hector, in Mississippi. David began running in the scorching sun after the car and watched as it disappeared from sight—soon headed to a Louisiana ICE prison. Here's their story.

Opposing prop50 from a pro democracy angle is an interesting example how of the logic of the left can distort a plain examining of the strategic picture and lead to creating false dichotomies. The work on prop50 is to fight against fascism. It isnt in conflict w/ democracy reform.

Seriously, y'all. Were it not for a lone lawyer literally banging on the airport doors, these kids would've been stolen. Were it not for Judge Sparkle taking immediate action at 3am on a holiday weekend, they'd have gotten away with it. It didn't take a hero to do the right thing. Just a person.

One thing I haven't seen talked about on here is the genre of tiktoks where clips of heroic last stands are played over viral sounds with captions that basically read "Guys want to go out in a blaze of glory protecting my friends and family". They're pretty popular.

The question of whether Kamala would have been better than trump on gaza is especially cursed. I'm of the belief that the people who are in charge are incredibly important and as such she would have been much better than trump or biden. I think believing otherwise is pretty much doomerism.
