I’ve got this gut feeling that Trump will shaft Zelenskyy on Sunday, proving irrefutably that he is Putin’s puppet (like we didn’t already know that). That’s a criminal act—more than one, really. This war needs to stop without Ukraine giving up its territory.

It’s been a surprisingly nice Christmas Day. A Seattle friend had asked to spend the night last night. This led to a nice impromptu brunch with 1 more guest. Good food, good companions, and my friends getting to know each other.

I baked a carrot cake for my friend J for her 70th birthday. It turned out great! Here’s the recipe. I did add more spices (ginger, cloves). The cream cheese frosting is great, too, esp with orange peel zest sprinkled on top!

Last time I bought a new piece of kit (can't remember what it was, but it wasn't long ago) it came with a pokey stick on a bit of card. I stared, entranced & amazed at the advances technology has made. They straighten the paper clip for you now. 😲

I killed a few hours today fooling around with my internet connection, until I disconnected the modem, poked a straightened paper clip into its “reset” opening, and plugged everything back in. Geez, I used to do that to my Mac SE in the 1980s! (It worked today, too!) …Old dog, old tricks.
