Basically, I argued that Gamergate and the rise of Trump were part of a larger realization on the right that they would never win a rational argument again. So they embraced a view that politics is a revenge project on the left for besting them in the realm of rationality and ideas.

ICE kidnapped a 5-year-old and sent him alone to a facility in Texas. Hell isn't hot enough.

I would argue that the case for dismantling ICE has, at this point, virtually nothing to do with larger questions of immigration enforcement and reform, it's just clearly incompatible with a free and democratic society to maintain a secret police force with sweeping and arbitrary authority.

You're going to read a lot of headlines out of Davos that misleadingly suggest that a transatlantic crisis has passed. But if you listen to Trump's entire speech, it sounds like the crisis is just getting started.

If you're only reading headlines and see "Trump Says He Won't Use Force" it will give you a misimpression of both how bellicose this speech is and how dug in he is on Greenland.

No one can be watching this Davos speech and reach any conclusion but that the President of the United States is mentally disturbed and that something is deeply wrong with him. This is both embarrassing and extremely dangerous.

More to the point: it's Trump. He agrees with the last person to speak with him, he hedges and says "maybe" to any proposition, and he doesn't understand issues enough to have an informed opinion anyway. Why would anyone ever believe a word he says?
