When pundits talk about âde-riskingâ pipeline investment, they mean that we cover the losses and private companies walk off with the profits. Itâs taxpayer funded corporate welfare.

Your worth is not determined by your job, your bank account or your ability to produce for capitalism. Disabled people have worth. Children have worth. The elderly have worth. The homeless have worth. Those in power want you to de-value others so you will accept atrocities.

I want to be absolutely clear: The end goal is no more nonaffirming churches. Not a "diversity of thought" that's just rewriting purity codes. Not a "range of opinions" with a variety of ways to exclude and dehumanize and tolerate "separate but equal." Not a bare minimum. Not an "I love you but."

Canada made weird tv shows because it was all being done with government funded art grant money so they fell in this wacky middle ground between âshoestring budgetâ and âno expectation to generate shareholder valueâ which is really the best way to make art

Dan Levy openly says that Schitt's Creek would not have survived anywhere except the CBC because it was weird and took a season or so to find its feet... Just for reference if you wanna know the ROI on this approach to supporting creative things.

Today is Doctor Who Day, which honours the day that Doctor Who premiered on the BBC in 1963. The TARDIS, The Doctor and many other aspects of the show are thanks to its co-creator, Sydney Newman of Toronto. This is his story. 𧔠1/12

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays: Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink. If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business. Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

It's weird how aggressive some folks can be when you decline alcohol. Like they need you to justify why you aren't drinking. Please don't be that person.

Understanding the difference between "religious people" and White Evangelical Nationalism is knowing: They didn't want more religious freedom or a more religious country; they wanted their own personal pliable, obedient cult followers.

One major reason why I'm not Conservative? I abhor bullies and cruelty. And from what I've seen over the last 10 years or so, that seems to be the main demographic. Or at least people who see nothing wrong with bullies and cruelty even if they themselves aren't.

thing about autism is if you work really hard for many years, you can learn through trial-and-error how to navigate social situations and interpersonal connections SO effectively that people don't really believe you're autistic anymore and resent you for not being perfect at nonverbal communication

From the 1950s to 1970s, the Prime Minister opened the Grey Cup with a ceremonial kickoff. The worst kickoff was one yard by John Diefenbaker in 1959. The best was 32 yards by Pierre Trudeau in 1969. 72-year-old Governor General Roland Michener equaled that distance in 1971.

I'm a giant church nerd but: The lead-up to Christmas is an actual season called Advent. Christmas is not a day but a season that starts on Christmas and runs til Epiphany. And in Denver: your decor stays up until after the Stock Show. None of these things start before Thanksgiving.

Someone said Jesus wasn't real. I pointed out that most historians do think a real person inspired the stories. He went off on me, saying there are no miracles. When I pointed out I never said anything about miracles, he blocked me.

RE starbucks picket line--the relevant detail is "picket line, do not cross." Pass that along. Proclaiming that you are in no danger of doing so because you are too aesthetically pure to let Starbucks coffee pass your lips is...unhelpful and does not give the impression you perhaps imagine it does.

strong sense of justice actually works: Weâre both totally honest about & committed to our respective moral values. Whether thatâs a good thing or a bad thing depends on the specific values involved, & his values happen to suck.

The woman who called churches to get formula and the discussion around it shows a deep misunderstanding of how church funds work. Should the church help the community? Obviously. Do most churches have funds and staff at the ready to get formula quickly? They donât, actually.

The medical field characterizes us as ârigid thinkersâ who are too naive to understand guile & too âsensitiveâ to injustice. They do mental gymnastics to frame our honesty, integrity, & a drive towards justice as deficits, rather than strengths.

people tend to be earnest & honest, & to have strong integrity: we hold ourselves to our values. Many of us are deeply upset by anything that seems unjust. We arenât all angels, but I do think most of us are genuinely trying to be decent, & that is a virtue of our neurotype.

As a Christian I am not called or committed to pretending my enemy is one iota less evil than they are. I am called and committed to loving my enemy in the fullness of their evilness and cruelty and I am called and committed to calling them to repent.
