Any time someone tries to "um actually" me that "gender inequality doesn't exist anymore," I like to remind them of two things. 1. I've more or less stopped posting on here as much, but I do want to say happy Pride Month! I'm a trans lesbian myself, having come out over 2 years ago to my friends and started HRT around the same time. I've had ups and downs, but I'm happy as I am now.

To anyone questioning it, Pride has nothing to do with who I sleep with or identify as and everything to do with the fact I survived you, your friends, family members, religious dogma, taught self-hatred, and I'm now tough enough to walk down the street confidently in my own skin.

The idea that your friends won't like you if you're too weird is just wrong. I told a friend once that whenever I was losing my mind, I would lay down on the floor under my desk and stare at the underside of it until I was feeling better.

"If you could change anything about America, what would it be?" That's easy. I'd make it so an older person's vote counts less than a younger person's vote. As you get older, the value of your vote gradually decreases. An 18 year old would have a full vote, while a 90 year old would have a tenth.

You may ask "Luna, why?" Because when it comes to decisions about the future of the country, why should a 98 year old who won't be around much longer have just as much say as an 18 year old who's going to have to live with the consequences of those decisions for decades to come?

And for the record, I'm not punishing older people. I'm simply acknowledging that as an older person gets older, their share in the future decreases by definition. A company wouldn't build their 10 year business plan around an employee that's 2 weeks away from retirement.

In the same regard, I don't think a country should build its future plans around citizens who are on their way out the door.

"But isn't voter turn out significantly higher for old people than young people?" It is and that's why many current policies are disproportionately skewed in favor of old people. Notice how everyone over 60 has a house in the suburbs but everyone under 30 has a mountain of debt and 6 roommates.

"If young people really cared, wouldn't they just vote more?" I'd argue part of the reason they don't is because the way society is set up makes them feel like their vote is pointless and their future is hopeless. By making their vote more valuable, it'd inspire them to get involved.

Happy Pride Month! Pride is important because someone tonight still believes they're better off dead than being themselves. To parents, your child didn't come out to hurt you or defy you. They came out because they love you and hoped you'd love them back. And when you don't, it destroys them.

Pride remains around as a reminder for what the LGBT community has fought for for years and continue to fight for: A right to simply exist as we are and live happily. We don't want to "turn" anyone gay. We don't want to hurt anyone. We simply want to exist, with the same rights as everyone else.

Happy Pride Month! A reminder: Marriage does not change your sexuality. I've had people try to tell me "You married a man, so that means you're straight now." Marriage simply means I'm devoting myself to one person. It didn't erase my attraction to women.

Reminder that talking to kids about sex doesn't make them have sex. Talking to them about suicide or mental illness doesn't make them suicidal or give them mental illness. It DOES give them the tools to help recognize things that'd otherwise confuse or terrify them, and that can help save a life.

I don't need to be "protected" from seeing porn, I need porn artists to be protected from being debanked, having their work stolen by AI, being abused for the content of their work, and going broke.

Before Pride Month starts, I'm just gonna say this: - Men's Mental Health Month is November. - Straight Pride isn't a thing. Nobody's ever been oppressed or kill just for being straight. - Veterans get two months. May and November. Plus a myriad of other days. Do some research before complaining.
